Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has once again made headlines with his controversial behavior. During an interview at the 2023 DealBook Summit, Musk, the owner of micro-blogging platform X, unleashed an expletive-laden outburst directed at advertisers who have left the platform due to antisemitic posts he amplified. This comes after Musk publicly endorsed what the White House labeled as “antisemitic and racist hate” on the platform, for which he has since apologized and deleted the tweet. Despite the backlash, Musk defiantly stated that if advertisers try to blackmail him with money, they can “go fuck themselves.” He also warned that the advertising boycott could potentially kill the company, with up to $75 million in revenue at stake from over 200 advertisers. X has already lost 50 of its top 100 advertisers since Musk took over, including big-name brands like Ford, Verizon, and Chevrolet. The platform has been under scrutiny for allowing ads to appear next to posts promoting Hitler and the Nazi Party. While some find humor in Musk’s outburst, others criticize his behavior. Nonetheless, Musk continues to assert his impact on the environment, claiming to have done more for it than any other human on Earth.
