To utilize Bitcoin payments, users must enter the username of their chosen service, with Strike being the primary integration partner as of the launch.

The actual payment process involves downloading and creating an account on the Strike app, which serves as the non-custodial wallet for Bitcoin transactions. After depositing Bitcoin into their Strike account, users can navigate to any Twitter profile they wish to tip, click the money icon on the profile, select the amount they want to send, add an optional message, and confirm the payment through their connected wallet. The entire transaction occurs almost instantly through the Lightning Network, with minimal fees.

Currently, the service has geographical limitations that affect its accessibility. The Strike app itself is only available in the United States of America and El Salvador as of September 24, 2021, though expansion plans are underway. Additionally, while Twitter Tips with Lightning Network integration is available to iOS users globally, the requirement for the Strike app means that users outside the supported regions cannot fully utilize the Bitcoin payment functionality until broader rollout occurs.
