Creditors of the defunct Bitcoin exchange, Mt. Gox, have received an email indicating that repayments may soon be on the way. The trustee overseeing the exchange’s estate, Nobuaki Kobayashi, has started sending out emails to rehabilitation creditors, stating that the first repayments will be made in cash in 2023. The repayments are expected to continue into 2024, but no specific timing has been provided. This news comes after the trustee announced the redemption of trust assets, amounting to 7 billion Japanese yen ($47 million), to fund the repayment of claims. Previously, the trustee was expected to repay creditors by October 2023, but the deadline has been extended to October 2024.
