Aleph Zero has launched its Ethereum-compatible layer-2 mainnet, which utilizes zkOS technology to enhance privacy and efficiency within its blockchain ecosystem. This innovative solution aims to provide a faster and more secure experience for users and developers alike.

The mainnet features a Substrate-based WASM layer 1 as its Data Availability Layer, significantly reducing transaction block times to just 250 milliseconds. The ecosystem token, AZERO, will be used for all gas transactions on this layer, similar to its current function on the layer-1 network.

Developed in partnership with a rollup-as-a-service provider, this mainnet incorporates Arbitrum Orbit technology. This configuration is designed to support the development of Ethereum-compatible applications, offering users a remarkably fast and efficient blockchain experience. Additionally, the zkOS privacy toolkit is expected to be introduced in the fourth quarter, with the goal of:
