Polygon Co-Founder Launches ZisK, a New ZK Project

Polygon co-founder Jordi Baylina has introduced ZisK, an independent zero-knowledge project designed to foster decentralized technology adoption through a fully open-source zkEVM stack. Initially developed at Polygon, ZisK will be Baylina’s primary focus, though he will remain an advisor to Polygon. The spinoff includes seven core developers from Polygon’s zkEVM prover team, who have collaborated for over three years. This move highlights the growing importance of zero-knowledge proofs in scaling blockchain solutions.

Ethereum’s Dencun Upgrade to Enhance Layer 2 Scalability and Reduce Gas Fees

The upcoming Dencun upgrade for Ethereum is set to enhance data availability and reduce transaction fees for Layer 2 solutions like Polygon zkEVM. Co-founder Jordi Baylina anticipates a significant cost reduction of 10x to 50x with the implementation of EIP-4844, which is expected to bring about a threefold increase in Ethereum’s total data availability capacity. The upgrade will particularly benefit ZK rollups like Polygon zkEVM, but its integration involves a more complex procedure compared to optimistic rollups.
