Lyft has confirmed a partnership with Bee Maps, a decentralized mapping platform built on Hivemapper’s crypto-incentivized network, to improve its navigation and autonomous vehicle strategies. The collaboration, which started in 2024, involves Lyft licensing Bee Maps’ street-level data, sourced from a global network of contributors using AI-powered dashcams and rewarded with HONEY tokens. Unlike Bee Maps’ typical crowdsourced model, Lyft drivers are not contributing data. This move aligns with Lyft’s broader push for real-time, open mapping solutions, complementing its prior investments in OpenStreetMap. Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
