Wizards of the Coast has recently made headlines due to layoffs and the cancellation of an unannounced project at its subsidiary, Skeleton Key. This has raised concerns about the studio’s future and its ambitious plans in the gaming industry.

Audio director Nassim Ait-Kaci has indicated on LinkedIn that he is seeking new opportunities, suggesting he may be among those affected by the layoffs. The specifics regarding the number of layoffs have not been disclosed, and there have been no updates from either Wizards of the Coast or Skeleton Key.

Initially, Skeleton Key was set to develop AAA horror titles and expand its workforce. However, the studio’s official website currently lists no job openings, which is unusual for a company at this stage of development. Founded in 2022 by Christian Dailey, who has extensive experience in the gaming industry, Skeleton Key aimed to deliver immersive gameplay and engaging narratives. As of now, the studio has yet to announce its first game title.
