Shuhei Yoshida, the former President of PlayStation, has expressed his enthusiasm for supporting indie game developers, describing it as his dream job. He believes that indie games play a crucial role in shaping the future of the gaming industry.

In a recent interview, Yoshida reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing relations between PlayStation and independent developers. After leading PlayStation from 2008 to 2019, he transitioned to the role of Head of Independent Developer Initiative in response to criticism from indie developers regarding the platform’s support.

Yoshida observed that many indie games had significantly better performance on competing platforms, which prompted a strategic shift aimed at bolstering support for these creators. With 31 years of experience at PlayStation, he was instrumental in launching major products such as the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. His work with indie developers has been both enjoyable and fulfilling, further solidifying his commitment to nurturing their growth within the gaming ecosystem.
