Lesa Heebner has been elected as the chair of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Board of Directors for a two-year term. She received unanimous support for this position, bringing over 20 years of public service experience in Solana Beach and 14 years as a SANDAG board member.
Heebner takes over from former Chairwoman Nora Vargas and has pledged to improve the agency’s internal operations while promoting transparency for both the board and the public. In addition to Heebner’s appointment, the following individuals have also been appointed to key positions:
- Joe LaCava: Appointed as SANDAG vice chair, he is the San Diego City Council President and represents San Diego’s District 1. LaCava leads the SANDAG Regional Planning Committee and is eager to collaborate with other board members to address regional needs.
- John Minto: The Mayor of Santee, Minto will serve as second vice chair. He has been a board member since 2002 and has previously chaired the Borders Committee, as well as being involved with the Public Safety Committee since 2016.
