Papergames, the developer behind the popular Nikki series, has achieved remarkable success in 2024. With impressive revenue of around $850 million, the company has made significant strides in the gaming industry, particularly with its latest release.

In January 2024, Papergames launched an AI-driven dating simulation game called Love and Deepspace. This game has attracted approximately six million monthly active users in key markets, including:

  • China
  • The U.S.
  • Japan
  • Korea

Featuring AI-generated voice calls and text messages, Love and Deepspace enhances the immersive experience for players as they interact with their digital partners. Notably, 60% of the game’s revenue originates from China, while the U.S. contributes 11%. The game has consistently topped mobile revenue charts in China, with players investing in new interactions and storylines, significantly boosting profitability.

Since its establishment in 2013, Papergames has seen its valuation soar to over $2 billion. This growth follows the initial success of the Nikki mobile series, which focuses on fashion-themed adventures. The studio’s foray into dating simulators began with Love and Producer in 2017, also known internationally as Mr. Love: Queen’s Choice, setting the stage for increased competition in the genre from major companies like Tencent and Alibaba.
