Vontobel has successfully completed the acquisition of IHAG Privatbank’s client book, a significant transaction valued at approximately CHF 3 billion. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing Vontobel’s presence in the DACH region, which encompasses Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

The acquisition, which was initially disclosed on September 19, 2024, will incorporate IHAG’s clients into Vontobel’s Private Clients segment. It is anticipated to positively impact Vontobel’s Group results from the outset and was financed through existing capital.

IHAG Privatbank, established in 1949, has faced considerable operational and reputational challenges in recent years, leading to multiple reorganizations and changes in management. Despite these difficulties, Vontobel’s management remains optimistic about the potential benefits of this acquisition, which will enhance its substantial portfolio of approximately CHF 100 billion in the private client segment.
