Share trading in Switzerland and Spain has shown significant growth recently. In February, the total trading turnover reached CHF 135.1 billion, marking a 5.7% increase from the previous month and a remarkable 20.5% rise compared to the same month last year.

The Swiss Stock Exchange experienced an 18% increase in equities, which constitute three-quarters of the turnover. However, there was a 10.6% decline in Swiss franc bonds. Notably, the demand for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) surged by 120.3%, contributing to a total turnover of CHF 98.6 billion, reflecting a 20% year-on-year increase.

In Spain, the BME Exchange reported a robust 23% increase in turnover, with shares, bonds, and ETFs trading at a total of €38.9 billion. The latest figures from the Swiss exchange have corrected earlier discrepancies that suggested a decline in trading activity. This adjustment clarifies that the Swiss exchange previously included only Swiss franc bonds in its bond turnover, while the overall figures for both exchanges had included foreign currency bond turnover from the previous year.
