Klarna, a Swedish pay-now-buy-later company, is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States. The company aims to raise at least one billion dollars and may submit its application to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) soon.
The anticipated market valuation for Klarna is expected to exceed 15 billion dollars. Share pricing could be determined in early April, following a significant fluctuation in the company’s valuation over the past few years:
- Peak valuation in 2021: 45.6 billion dollars
- Valuation in 2022: 6.7 billion dollars
- Estimated value last year: 14.6 billion dollars
To facilitate the IPO process, Klarna is collaborating with approximately 15 banks, including major firms such as Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley. The company’s strong presence in online retail, bolstered by its installment payment services, has contributed to its rapid growth.
