Following the merger of Credit Suisse and UBS, significant changes have been introduced for UK employees from the former Credit Suisse. These employees will benefit from a unique paid sabbatical policy that sets them apart from their UBS counterparts.

This new policy allows eligible employees to take a three-month sabbatical every five years, with a structured pay scale:

  • Full pay for the first month
  • 80% pay for the second month
  • 60% pay for the third month

In contrast, UBS employees in London do not have access to similar benefits, leading to dissatisfaction among long-serving staff. They feel at a disadvantage compared to their colleagues from Credit Suisse, often referred to as “blueliners.” Furthermore, there are concerns regarding the potential merger of the pension funds from both banks, as the UBS pension fund is significantly stronger than that of Credit Suisse. Management has indicated that discussions about merging the pension funds will not take place until after the complete integration of Credit Suisse, which is anticipated to be finalized by 2027.
